About this role
We are looking for an Art Director to touch every piece of the creative process and help develop culture-first work as part of the NY creative team. From conception to production, you’ll be a steward of storytelling for brand partners, bringing ideas to life through myriad formats and styles. The ideal candidate understands design fundamentals and strives to make beautifully original things.
Dedicated to innovative work that stirs shit up across advertising and culture at large. Bring experience with integrated campaign work and holistic thinking to executions. Collaborate with teammates across functions, working most closely with a Writer partner.
This team is based in the New York office and works in a hybrid fashion with in-office days on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Become a Spoon: give a damn, try anything, and enjoy the people you work with. Ideate within timelines and budgets for cutting-edge yet feasible results.

Requirements
- 1.5+ years of experience in Art Direction and conceptual creative work in an advertising agency
- Strong understanding of graphic design, photography, illustration, and typography
- First successes in “big idea” generation for client brands
- Familiarity with and passion for conceptual thinking, campaign development, and cross-channel creative execution
- Advanced understanding of Adobe Creative Suite applications
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Effective written, verbal, and visual communicator
- Ability to collaborate creatively across departments and offices
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a Writer partner to ideate and create work that delivers on client goals, both strategically and creatively
- Work hand in hand with Writer to create presentations, including ideas, design, layout of decks, mood imagery, and bespoke visuals
- Ideate within timeline and budget parameters and work with Production to present cutting-edge but feasible work
- Work alongside Associate Creative Directors to make the work, overseeing and collaborating with Production to keep creative integrity
- Present work to creative leads and internal teams as needed
- Be client-facing and present work to clients, clearly verbalizing the essence of ideas
- Become acquainted with clients, understanding their marketing approach, sales environment, and interests
