About this role
The Creative Copywriter, Senior Manager develops bold, compelling copy that brings athenahealth’s brand voice to life across campaigns, paid media, event themes, and other short-form marketing content. This role combines high-level creative concepting with hands-on copywriting. An experienced writer moves fluidly between big-picture thinking and precise execution.
This position works across the full lifecycle of a project, helping shape the creative idea and then translating it into impactful copy. The writer aligns with brand voice, messaging strategy, and business goals while pushing creative boundaries. Work happens from existing messaging frameworks and includes creating new ones as needed.
The role requires close collaboration with marketing, brand, creative, content, and other cross-functional partners throughout the project lifecycle. Partners shape early-stage creative concepting to determine how the brand voice will come to life. A strong point of view helps challenge work that does not meet the desired standard.
Success comes from connecting creative strategy with compelling copy execution while maintaining consistency and clarity. The position suits someone comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, idea-driven environment. The writer must flex between strategic concepting and detailed copy refinement.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in copywriting
- Strong portfolio demonstrating excellent marketing copy, creative concepting, and brand voice execution
- Experience developing and refining copy across campaigns, paid media, event themes, social, web, and email
- Demonstrated ability to connect creative strategy with compelling copy execution
- Comfortable working independently and cross-functionally in a fast-paced, idea-driven environment
- Able to flex between strategic concepting and detailed copy refinement
- Healthcare experience preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Develop original, high-impact copy for campaign headlines, paid media, brand messaging, manifesto scripts, event themes, social content, web copy, and email copy
- Partner in early-stage creative concepting to help shape the big idea and determine how the brand voice will come to life
- Translate campaign and brand strategies into bold, compelling copy that resonates with target audiences
- Work from existing messaging frameworks and help develop new ones as needed
- Edit, refine, and optimize copy to ensure clarity, consistency, and quality
- Collaborate closely with marketing, brand, creative, content, and other cross-functional partners throughout the project lifecycle
- Push creative thinking while ensuring copy remains aligned to brand voice and messaging standards
- Bring a strong point of view and challenge work that does not meet the desired standard
