About this role
The Senior Art Director leads the visual direction and execution of 360° creative for e.l.f. Cosmetics and e.l.f. SKIN, ensuring brand consistency, elevated design, and strong storytelling across connected commerce. This role bridges concept and execution, reporting into the Senior Creative Directors and mentoring designers to bring compelling campaigns to life.
Day-to-day, the Senior Art Director partners with cross-functional teams including Brand Marketing, eCommerce, UX, Social, and Visual Merchandising to concept campaigns aligned with brand strategy and business goals. They translate creative briefs and audience insights into brand-right visual systems, owning typography, layout, and design quality across digital, social, retail, and email channels.
The team operates in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with a hybrid work model—three days in office, two days at home. The Senior Art Director presents creative work internally, articulating design rationale while mentoring designers and maintaining high creative standards. They manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timelines and priorities are met.

Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in art direction, preferably within beauty, skincare, or consumer goods.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating 360° campaign work across digital, social, and retail channels.
- Expertise in typography, layout, and visual systems with a keen eye for detail and brand consistency.
- Proven ability to concept and execute campaigns aligned with audience insights and business objectives.
- Experience mentoring junior designers and providing clear, constructive art direction.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and a mobile-first, digital-first mindset.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Deep understanding of beauty, skincare, clean beauty, fashion, design, and social trends.
Responsibilities
- Lead art direction and design execution for e.l.f. Cosmetics and SKIN across 360° channels including visual merchandising, email, paid media, social, elfcosmetics.com, retailer eComm, and site enhancements.
- Partner with Senior Creative Directors to concept and execute campaigns that align with brand strategy, audience insights, and business goals.
- Translate creative briefs, audience insights, and product storytelling into compelling, brand-right visual systems and experiences.
- Own visual consistency, typography, layout, and design quality across varying platforms and formats.
- Provide clear art direction and feedback to designers, supporting their growth while ensuring high creative standards.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Brand Marketing, eCommerce, UX, Social, Visual Merchandising, Integrated Marketing, and external partners from concept through execution.
- Present creative work internally, articulating design rationale and addressing feedback with solution-oriented thinking.
- Design with a mobile-first, digital-first mindset, optimizing assets for performance and channel best practices.
