About this role

The Content Strategy Director provides leadership and guidance on content strategy across multiple project teams, maximizing the commercial impact of content to achieve client business goals. As the most senior content strategy representative, the director ensures overall quality of content strategy work in the business unit.

The director leads content strategy efforts on complex and challenging projects, providing strategic direction and process implementation on digital experience development. They work closely with clients to determine content effort and ensure necessary content is sourced or generated, with a well-rounded knowledge of digital and editorial solutions.

Collaborating with creative team members, the director sets guidelines for editorial tone, style, and voice of all content. They also develop content publication workflows, migration plans, content models, and governance strategies while analyzing client digital content and developing distribution plans across multiple channels.

As a usability expert, the director is deeply involved in the content development and distribution process from outset to completion. They articulate the value of content strategy to existing and new clients, driving business results through a professional communicator capable of grasping communication challenges.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to lead content strategy across the entire web development process.
  • A degree or diploma in library science, journalism, communications, English, or a related field.
  • Background in researching, writing, and some project management.
  • 6-10 years of Marketing/Communications experience in a Web-focused company or agency.
  • Understanding of content management systems and strategies.
  • Experience in developing SEO strategies.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex or demanding subject matter, either verbally or in written form.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure overall quality of content strategy work on all projects and accounts.
  • Build strategies for developing, implementing, and managing compelling content based on business objectives and user needs.
  • Analyze and assess client’s digital content.
  • Develop distribution plans for positioning content across multiple channels to drive desired business results.
  • Draft content publication and migration workflows, content models, and governance plans.
  • Produce content strategy deliverables including content audits, gap analyses, taxonomies, style guides, and page tables.
  • Collaborate with creative team members to determine the conceptual and copy direction of online initiatives, including setting guidelines for editorial tone, style, and voice.
  • Work with clients to enhance, edit, and reformat legacy and newly created content.
